Around the World in 80 Eyeshadows: Weekly Round-Up 1/21/13

Question of the Week:

What are your favorite lip balms to keep your lips protected during winter?

Emily's answer: Any type of all purpose salve is what I stick do during the cold months, I even did a post last month about my obsession with them (I've even accumulated more since then)! It's just the easiest way to get my lips to stock cracking and if any other areas on my skin are feeling dry I can pop it on there too!

Question of the Week:

What are your top three beauty or fashion items you want to buy on the market right now?

Emily's answer: As much as I LOVE to make wishlists, my goal in 2013 is to really enjoy the products that are already in my collection and resist the urge to buy more ;). In terms of fashion I'm not really one who's into trends (or clothes in general), I'm pretty simple!

Question of the Week:

What beauty products are in your purse right now?

Emily's answer: for the most part I don't really like to collect a lot of makeup in my purse because then I forget about it when I'm doing mine in the morning! But I do like to keep my lip of the day in there, so right now it's Revlon's Color Burst Lip Butter in Pink Truffle and Revlon's Super Lustrous Lip Gloss in Nude Lustre . Oh, and of course one of my salves ;)

Question of the Week:

What's your least expensive beauty item, and is it any good?

Emily's answer: I have a ton of products that are inexpensive in my collection, probably the cheapest ones I own are Wet n Wild Color Icon Eyeshadow Trios! They're $2.99 but I always buy them on sale so they are even cheaper, if you can believe that! I really love how soft the shadows are, they certainly don't lack in pigmentation, and come in every color you could ever need. I would certainly pay a lot more for the quality of those shadows!

Question of the Week:

What's top on your beauty wishlist for the Holidays?

Emily's answer: Hands down the In The Glow Set from Sephora, I pretty much died when I saw it! You guys probably already know I'm obsessed with blush so this set is perfection to me. I would especially love to try out Laura Mercier, NARS, and Lorac for the first time. At only $45 dollars, I let my mom know if she was ever going to get me a gift this would be it! Though I wouldn't complain if anything YSL ended up under the tree either ;)

Question of the Week:

What do your friends and family think of your blog?

Emily's answer: For a long time I kept my blog hidden from my friends just because I started it when I was 16 and I was worried people from my school would be cruel so Massachusetts Mask was kind of like my secret life! I still haven't told any of my friends now that I've graduated probably because it's just never come up in a conversation, but everyone at my work knows about it (actually helped me get the job)! My mom was with my blog from the start, I told her the day I started making posts and she's always been encouraging.

Question of the Week:

Are you being festive this Halloween in your beauty or fashion choices?

Emily's answer: You know I'm not really one who does much in terms of beauty and fashion for Halloween, it's never really worked out for me! Don't get me wrong, I love this holiday but usually I spend it at home with some candy I bought at the store and scary movie marathons. That being said it's not like anyone really sees me on Halloween so there's not much point in putting a costume together. This year though I think I'm going to paint my nails in a festive way (don't worry, I'll do a special Halloween NOTD) and maybe wear some colorful eyeshadow, something a little different for me but still in my comfort zone!

Question of the Week:

What is one product that you had high hopes for but left you disappointed?

Emily's answer: I would have to go with MAC lipsticks, granted I've only ever tried the cremesheen finish but it was still so awful I don't plan on ever getting another lipstick from MAC! I got Creme d'Nude last year when I was obsessing over nude lips and just discovered MAC. It was just such a cake-y formula on my lips, sunk into every crevice and just look horrid (it wasn't the color, that was the only part that actually looked good)! It was so surprising to me because everyone and their mother raves about MAC lipsticks, the cremesheen finish in particular. Unless there was a color that I just absolutely cannot dupe in another brand, I will be staying far far away from the lipstick stand at MAC!

Question of the Week:

What's the most expensive item in your makeup collection and was it worth the price?

Emily's answer: hands down has got to be my Sigma Essential Kit brushes that I ordered about a year and a half ago! It was so hard for me to fork over the $89.00 all at once, but I knew I was going to get 12 brushes that would hopefully last forever with good care. My brushes are still going strong even after all this time, of course the F40 Large Angled Contour brush has "poofed" out a little more over time, but that will pretty much happen with any brush you get. I've never had any problems with excessive shedding or loose ferrules, and Sigma does offer awesome customer service so that if anything happens with your brushes no matter how long ago you bought them you can ask for a replacement (as long as the brush wasn't damaged because of how you cared for it)! I don't regret my purchase, but of course I've found other awesome cheaper brands that make brushes that are just as good (e.l.f., Real Techniques, Eco Tools). So I guess I kind of wish when I was just starting out with makeup I did a little more research instead of just buying the first expensive kit I found!

Question of the Week:

What would be your first repurchase if you lost all your makeup?

Emily's answer: It would have to either be my Revlon ColorStay Foundation for Oily/Combination Skin in Sand Beige since that has been my holy grail foundation over the past year or my original Naked/Naked 2 palettes! Those are the three makeup items that I pretty much use on a daily bases that never seem to fail me, I'd be lost without them! Ps, anyone who says you don't need to get both Naked palettes is totally lying, they pair together perfectly!

Around the World in 80 Eyeshadows: Weekly Round-Up 10/1/12

Question of the Week:

What's your signature lip color?

Emily's answer: Hmm, that's a tough question to answer for me because lip products are kind of a last minute thought when I'm doing my makeup in the morning, most days I skip them entirely and pop on a lip balm! But I think on those days where I grab a lip color 9 out of 10 times its a shade of orange. Over the summer I loved my Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter in Tutti Frutti to death, and lately I've been trying to tone it down for fall with Revlon's Super Lustrous Lipgloss in Coral Reef which I recently reviewed here (can you tell I always turn to Revlon for my lip products?)!

Question of the Week:

What's your go-to fall color this year?

Emily's answer: I have been absolutely obsessing over dark vampy lips! Revlon's Super Lustrous Lipstick in Black Cherry is next on my list to get, even if I don't wear it that often its still too beautiful to pass up! For eyes, I'm loving green colors like Maybelline's Color Tattoo in Mossy Green which I've been using non-stop since I got it, which is surprising since I never wear color on my eyes! Bright yellow golds like MAC's Paint Pot in Treasure Hunt from last year's Posh Paradise collection are something I've been gravitating towards as well.

Around the World in 80 Eyeshadows: Weekly Round-Up 9/17/12

Hi everyone! So me and a couple other bloggers have started this new series called "Around the World in 80 Eyeshadows" which is going to be a weekly round up of links from our blogs! We're mainly focusing on beauty bloggers that are from all over the world so our readers get to experience new products, and its not all about eyeshadows as our name would suggest! We will be posting every Monday and are looking for some new bloggers to add to our littler group, so if you're interested shoot me a little email :) I hope you guys enjoy!

Question of the Week:

What's your favorite beauty item exclusive to your location?

Emily's answer: Wet n Wild! I remember buying all their products when I was in the 6th grade (they were quite crap back then) so they're kind of a nostalgic brand for me. When I first picked up a product from them a few years later I wasn't expecting much, more of a cheap thrill. But Wet n Wild has knocked other drugstore (and even high-end) eyeshadows out of the park! They are my second favorite brand for shadows next to Urban Decay, the pigmentation and texture is amazing, you won't even understand unless you have one of these little miracles! I also fancy their blushes quite a bit, they are SO pigmented and smooth. Just wish they came in more than 4 colors! Its a shame Wet n Wild isn't offered in other countries because I know people would instantly fall in love with their products!

This Week's Links:

Beauty & Baggage- is (unfortunately for your wallets) admitting that the NARS Yachiyo Kabuki Brush is worth the money.

Fashionable Heart- is professing her love for chiffon with her latest clothing haul!

Norwegian Elephant- because sometimes good need not be expensive ;)
