Where to Buy: Drugstore.com, $8.99

Revlon Just Bitten Lip Stains ($8.99 for 0.095 oz) are supposed to be a combination of a moisturizing balm and a stain. They come in 12 shades: Honey, Crush, Darling, Cherish, Lovesick, Sweetheart, Smitten, Charm, Rendezvous, Romantic, Precious, Adore.

Texture:

The Revlon Kissable Balm Stains have a very light gel feel to them. They're not completely smooth when going on the lips, you'll get a little tugging. Once applied, these do feel like you've got a light layer of lip balm on. For the amount of stain you get, its quite amazing how moisturizing these feel! The consistency of these Kissable Balm Stains isn't so thin that it totally avoids clumping. On days where my lips are a little on the dry side, I need to prep my lips before applying these Stains otherwise they do get patchy. They also don't avoid that dreaded clumpy-ness where the outer dry part of your lip meets the wet inner part (it annoys the living daylights out of me when I get clumping here, but I've yet to find a product that doesn't)!

Pigmentation:

All of the shades in the Revlon Kissable Balm Stain line require a few swipes to really get the color you see in the stick and I haven't experienced any issues with getting the lighter colors like Charm built up to the color they should be.

Scent and Flavor:

When you first apply the Balm Stains, there's a pretty mild peppermint smell and taste. It doesn't feel tingly or anything when on the lips unlike other minty products. If you're sensitive to fragrance, don't worry because the peppermint scent and flavor wears off after about 10 minutes!

Staying Power:

Obviously the darker shades are the ones with the best staying power on the lips. Charm really doesn't do much in terms of staining, it wears away in a measly 2 hours. Rendezvous is a bit better, lasting a good 4 hours. Cherish is again on the lighter side, so I only got 3 hours of wear before it considerably faded. Lovesick lasted the longest, giving an amazing 8 hours of color on the lips! Keep in mind that the balm part of these stains only lasts an average of 2 hours no matter the color, after that you're left with more of a matte color on the lips and it starts to irritate my lips with the dry, cracking feeling. When the balm does wear away, you get a nice even stain. I can't stand when stains sink into lip lines, leaving those unsightly lines, but fear not because I haven't experienced that with the Revlon Kissable Balm Stains! Beware that with some of the darker shades you can also get a little bit of feathering.

Packaging:

The Balm Stains come in chubby pencil form that doesn't need sharpening because they twist not only up but down as well. I hate when I've twisted a product up too far only to find it won't go back down (don't we all)! I love that each pencil is the color of that shade, makes it easy to grab. Every shade not only has a sticker on the bottom telling you the shade, but it also says the name on the side of the pencil. My only issue is that the tips of the product can wear down quite quickly and then it can be hard to get a clean edge when applying, but nothing a couple seconds of precision won't solve.

Final Verdict:

I think these are an absolute must have for everyone! I'm not one to really bother with lip products just because I hate having to reapply throughout the day, but the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains totally take away the need for that! Of course I might reapply once or  twice just to regain that bit of shine on the lips, but with some of the shades it really isn't necessary because the stain part lasts and lasts. I will say though that most of the pink shades look the same on the lips, so don't think you need to grab all of them. But overall, these feel amazing on the lips and do exactly what Revlon claims!

  1. I really want to try these out, they look amazing! Not sure what color to get though, I always go for colors like charmed so I'm afraid I have too many of those

    1. I'd skip Charm, its not really a "stain" because well have you tried staining anything with milk? The lighter colors don't really do much! But try one of the beautiful pinks, Honey is next on my list, it seems like a gorgeous everyday color :)

  3. Awesome review! I loved these too, although I only got 3 and I'm pretty sure the UK only gets 7 of the 12 shades. But Lovesick looks lovely.

    1. Thanks Seonaid :) I actually went out and bought Crush on my birthday because of you! Even my mom picked up one, she couldn't resist your description of it being the color of blackberries on the lips :)

  4. I will definitely have to try one of these. They might just save me money from having to buy the Tarte ones that I love, if they compare well. :)
