Guest Post: Megan's Everyday Eye Look!

Today's Lovely Guest:

Hey lovelies, I'm pretty sure you guys don't know me but I'm, Meg from Beauty on a College Budget. I'm here to let you guys on a little secret. Want to look like you put a lot of effort into your eye makeup with none of the effort? It's so easy it'll blow your mind. Apply some sort of a shimmery eyeshadow to just the lid of your eye, closely line the top lashes with black liner, add mascara and voila fancy eye makeup in no time. Sounds too easy doesn't it? I promise it looks awesome every time!

So you start out your face makeup as your usual routine. No special advice for that. You of course should always prime your eyes first. I used Elf's Eyelid Primer ($1).

Step 1- Apply a light shimmery eyeshadow to just your lids. In this look I applied MUA Pearl shadow in shade 4 (£1 for our European friends.) to just my lids.

Step 2- Closely line your top lashes with black eyeliner. I used Elf's waterproof Eyeliner Pen ($1)

Step 3- Curl your lashes and add mascara. I used Urban Decay's Curling Mascara mini ($10)
Bam! You have a super cute eye look that always look great!

In the picture below are a few different palettes you could pick a shimmery eyeshadow from. If there's a smiley face on or under an eyeshadow those are the shades I'd advise using for this look. I've included some palettes that hopefully everyone can get their hands on. Even for those ladies across the pond!

The palettes above are as follows: MUA palette, Heaven and Earth sells for around £4. Kat Von D Saint palette that sells around $36. UrbanDecay NAKED sells around $50. MUA single eyeshadow Pearl Finish shade 4 (used in this tutorial.)

So now you ladies know my secret put it to good use! I use this all the time, and love it!

Guest Post: Wendy's Top 5 MAC Neutral Eyeshadows for Fall!

Today's Lovely Guest:

Hi, I'm Wendy from Fashionable Heart! Emily asked me to do a guest blog and I jumped at the chance. This is my first time doing a guest blog, so I'm pretty excited about it and hope it is worthy. I thought I would share my favorite neutral eyeshadows from MAC that are perfect for fall!

Top row: Tempting, Romp, and Woodwinked. Bottom row: Satin Taupe and Sable. Satin Taupe is probably my favorite MAC eyeshadow of all time and I feel like it can work on just about anyone. It's so beautiful as an all-over eye color! These are all so easy to use as just lid colors or crease colors. And if you have blue eyes like me, you need to own Woodwinked because it really makes them stand out! Hope you guys enjoyed my guest post! :)

Guest Post: Yu's Best of the British High Street

Today's Lovely Guest:

Well hello, lovely readers of Massachusetts Mask! I'm guessing it's already pretty obvious that I've hijacked Emily's blog for the day - this is Yu from Let's MakeYuUp. As a reader from across the pond, I thought I'd take this opportunity to bring you the best of the British high street. Visiting the UK? Here for the Olympics? Live here? Look no further.

My favourite British brand has be Rimmel. Okay, yes, it's available in the US but hidden amongst the seemingly universal brand are specific items that are only available in certain countries. My must-have? The Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick in Nude Delight. It's a perfect nude for us midtoned gals that find MAC Myth and Creme d'Nude a bit too.. corpse bride? Give this a shot if you can get your hands on it - will change your life forever ;)

Another fave has to be MUA - Make Up Academy. They are SO ridiculously affordable! Available exclusively at Superdrug, their items start from a mere £1. I think my favourite from them has to be their lip balms, that came out with their Love Hearts collection* - they're available online for £2 if you're interested! Their eyeshadow palettes are also a hit amongst us British bloggers - but I'm a bit behind and haven't tried them myself!

The last but not least is WHSmith - no, it's not a drugstore you've never heard of, it's actually a stationary store! But it has a firm place in the British beauty blogging world as many bloggers' first and possibly favourite storage option. Their biggest hit are their stationary drawers that have the perfect sized compartments for blusher, eyeliners, and eyeshadows. I wonder when WHSmith will catch on that their sales are not going to school girls, but a few dozen beauty addicts?

There's so much to be said about the British high street. It's great. I'm not from Britain, so I can tell you truly that your first experience on it will be - UHmazing. It's not quite a mall, and it's not quite an outdoor market. It's somewhere inbetween, and an experience to be had. And with these three recommendations, you're bound to love it as much as myself.
Until then - CHEERIO! *in a pathetic attempt at an English accent*

<3yu

*The yellow MUA lip balm was received for consideration. The other was purchased with my own money

If anyone's interested in posting here on Massachusetts Mask shoot me an email at MassachusettsMask@hotmail.com with your idea for a post!

ps. I really need a poster for this Friday, extra brownie points if anyone can do something on such short notice :)

Guest Post: Seonaid's 5 Lip Product Picks for Summer!

Today's Lovely Guest:

Hey everyone!

It’s Seonaid here, from *Beauty and Baggage* . I’m so happy to be guest posting on Emily’s lovely blog. If you’re not subscribed already, get on it!

Today I’ll be showing you my top lip products for summer. I’m a firm believer that you should wear whatever you want, whatever the season, but in hotter or more humid weather, these are the textures and shades I reach for most often. Although, to be honest, if given the choice I’ll wear a matte red.

It’s been rainy and miserable here in Scotland, but I hear the States is suffering some extreme weather at the moment, so hopefully these hold up in the heat too!

1.     Sleek Pout Polish in Bare Minimum ($6.50): This is lovely neutral, sheer tub of gloss, that softens and adds shine. It can be a little sticky, but I tend to use a little amount and buff it in to my lips to smooth and even out my lips.

2.     Revlon Lip Butter in Tutti Frutti ($7.49): An easy to apply, glossy balm in a bright, summery orange. This is fun and warms the complexion without being too heavy.

3.     NARS Lipgloss in Wonder ($24.00): I steered clear of lipgloss for ages because I hate a sticky gloss. But this gloss is not tacky or gloopy in the slightest. It’s surprisingly pigmented, a warm, fruity orange that makes me think of summer immediately.

4.     Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Crush ($8.99): I spoke about these new balm stains on my blog recently, and this is my favourite colour of the three I bought. This is a satin-finish, crushed berry stain that makes me look like I’ve been eating blackberries all day. It’s long lasting even in hot weather and has a lovely minty scent.

5.     17 Lipstick in Day Glo: I felt bad about including this one, because 17 is a brand exclusive to UK drugstore Boots, and I’m pretty sure you can’t get it stateside. However, this is a lovely smooth watermelon pink. It’s gorgeous and totally summery! Hopefully you can find a dupe in the US drugstore.

You’ll see that I mostly went for colours that were reminiscent of fruits and berries – which I think are the hues we all go for in summertime. Hopefully this helped you with some ideas for your own lip stash!

S xx
