Match your manicure to your mood! Fun, trendy shades — collect them all and change your nail polish as often as you like!

Application Tips

For best results, use your favorite Sally Hansen base coat on clean, dry nails. Shake gently. Apply 2-3 coats, letting each coat dry before applying the next one. Finish with your favorite Sally Hansen top coat for maximum shine and to make manicures last.

Benefits

Available in 30 of the hottest, most-wanted shades

Easy-grip, easy-glide brush designed for complete control

Pros:

-Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Nail Color are extremely good to your wallet, they're super affordable (I've never seen them over $3.00) and you can often catch them on sale at CVS, Rite Aid, Walgreens, etc.

-I think one of the biggest things that sucks me in about the Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Nail Color is the style of the bottle (bahaha, that's when you know you're a beauty blogger, you care more about the packaging than the product)! I'm very weird about polish, I won't buy it if I don't like the bottle (sorry Orly), I like a very classic and sleek design and the Xtreme Wear polishes certainly have that

Cons:

-The name Coral Reef is slightly misleading, the color of this polish is more of a brighter bubble gum pink rather than a true coral

-If you're browsing shades on the Sally Hansen website, be warned that a majority of the colors look nothing like the little color block they show, I mean for Pacific Blue they have a PINK color block, to me that doesn't seem like Sally Hansen really cares about their website!

-Though the slimmer bottle design is aesthetically appealing, you don't get as much product as other nail polishes. The Xtreme Wear line only comes with .4 fluid ounces and most normal brands have .5 fluid ounces

-The formulation on this particular shade isn't good, its very thick and goopy almost like when you have a very old polish

-Due to the issues with the formula Coral Reef comes off very streaky, you need at least 3 coats for it to look decent (and even then I was still having issues with it being opaque)!

-As with any polish, when you need 3 coats you run the risk of getting dings and such in your polish even when using a good top coat since it takes such a long time to dry (I use Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat, painted mine about 2 hours before bed, and STILL woke up with bed sheets, argg!)

-After all the trouble I had trying to get Coral Reef to be even without streaks, it didn't even last that long on my nails! I went about 2 days until it started severely chipping off despite me using my holy grail Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat, which usually makes my polishes last a week

Overall:

I don't totally regret buying the Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Nail Color in Coral Reef just because I don't have any colors like it in my collection and its not like I dropped $8.00 on one bottle like you would with OPI, but I definitely think you could find much better dupes for this particular shade in any given nail polish brand that have better/easier to work with formulas! If you want to check out some shades from the Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Nail Color line, I would suggest getting the shimmer shades or the darker creme shades, as ones like Coral Reef tend to be finicky to work with despite their gorgeous color!

  1. I've been wanting this color since I saw some other posts. It's a perfect pink/coral color for the summer! I haven't had a chance to look for it/find it yet. I'll look into finding a dupe though, as the problems you described would annoy me too! Thanks for the review :)

    1. No problem :)! Yeah, its just so hard to work with so its not really worth it since its a pretty common color! I think Wet n Wild just came out with a similar looking color (the Mega Last Line)!
