July Favorites

Bath & Body Works Fresh Picked Cherries PocketBac

You always have to keep some sort of hand sanitizer in your bag, and I love this one since instead of the plane old alcohol-y smelling sanitizer, this one smells like sweet cherries!

Bath & Body Works Pink Grapefruit Body Splash

I love spritzing this on my clothes and hair because it's such a perfect sweet/tangy mixture that's great for summer so I don't have to mess around with heavy perfumes.

MAC Pressed Blot Powder
There is some sort of heat wave going on around just about EVERYWHERE at the moment, so I've been skipping foundation all together and just putting on some concealer with blot powder on top to avoid a total makeup melt down!

Benefit Benetint

Again, with the heat wave I need makeup that's not going to be sliding around my face, so I've been opting for stains. This Benefit one is particularly great because it gives your cheeks a nice little "oh I just ran around" flush and your lips a lovely "I just ate a popsicle" color!

Seche Vite "Dry Fast Top Coat"

This top coat has been a holy grail item this month, I can't stand waiting around for my nails to dry and with this, you literally put it on and about 10 minutes later you can do just about anything!

C.O. Bigelow Apple Rose Salve

Other than the fact that this smells amazing, I've been loving it for the cute summer-y packaging and the great shine it gives to my lips.

Essie "Turquoise& Caicos"

I've been wearing this color on my hands and toes pretty much all month long. Some other nail polishes that are "turquoise" colors can either lean too blue or too green, but this one by Essie is the perfect true color!

Physicians Formula Powder Palette Multi-Colored Blush in "Blushing Rose"

This blush comes out as a really nice deep pink color with fine shimmer, but isn't too pigmented so it doesn't take a lot of thought to put on and blend out!

e.l.f. Studio Blush Haul & First Impressions

I placed my e.l.f. order on July 14th and received it on the 27th. I was told my order would take between a certain amount of days to ship, but e.l.f. fails to mention a little thing called order processing! No one informed me that it would take 8 days for the freaking thing to be processed. I mean, I had no idea that I placed my order after the "e.l.f. 7th birthday 70% off" madness, but even so, if you don't have enough people on your team to combat all the orders and get them shipped in an orderly fashion, then what business do you have even owning an online store?!

After the 7th day of no confirmation email saying my order had shipped, I checked my credit card history to see if anything went through, and it was super fishy that I was already charged for my e.l.f. purchase even though nothing had been shipped!

I sent an email to customer service asking what the hold up was and got this very generic email:

"We apologize for any inconvenience it generally takes about 3-5 days to process an order and once it gets shipped out you will receive and e-mail with your tracking information. If you still have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact us at 1800-231-4732.

- Sincerely

The ELF Team "

I can tell someone spent a total 10 seconds copying and pasting that mass email...not impressed!

Though their customer service is less than satisfactory, it put a big smile on my face to see a little package on my porch. I don't know why my products were shipped in a crappy envelope, not a box. Did I not order enough to qualify for a box, or were they just hoping the UPS man was extra careful (yeah, 'cause that's very likely)?!

But anyways, crappy customer service and crappy packaging aside, my 6 little blushes made it to me safe and sound inside their little e.l.f. plastic bag.

The e.l.f. Studio Blush shades I ordered:
  • Pink Passion
  • Blushing Rose
  • Fuchsia Fusion (which is actually misspelled "Fushia Fusion" on the box...)
  • Peachy Keen
  • Candid Coral
  • Tickled Pink

First Impressions

Pros: I love how sturdy these blushes feel when you hold them, the packaging is great because its not flimsy and seems like it would hold up really well against general wear-and-tear! It's really convenient that the blushes lay flat so you can stack them on top of one another. The colors are so much more gorgeous in person, so much better than drugstore blushes since you get really unique shades!

Cons: The little box these blushes come in don't have any plastic between the actual product and the little window on the box, which results in the see-through part of the blush packaging being a bit scratched, not a big problem if you don't care too much about how your product looks. This always happens when I order things online, but I was expecting the blushes to be a bit bigger! If you take a whiff of the products you'll notice a really plastic-y smell? I don't think that will really matter when you use them with a brush though. I like the nice sized mirror you get on the inside of every blush, but it doesn't make much since to have a mirror if you don't include a brush. The little stickers on the back of each blush which tell you what shade you have is SO SMALL, like you literally will need to squint to see it! I'm a little concerned that the word "fuchsia" is misspelled "fushia" on the box, that's a bit fishy to me.

Overall: I'm SO in love with these blushes, I can't wait to complete my collection with the shades that were sold out on the e.l.f. website when I ordered, and the best part is you can actually get all the shades since they are only $3 a piece! I'm a little put off with the whole customer service issues and lack of protective packaging so I wouldn't advise ordering products off the e.l.f. website, try and find their products in your local Kmart and Target!
